A seven-year old English boy earned a trial with the mighty Barcelona after impressing during a kickabout while on holiday with his Dad.
Considering that every hot prospect associated with Barcelona is instantly hyped as the 'New Messi' and the hullabaloo that the British media attach to every young player with the slightest hint of potential, great things will be expected of the latest wonderkid, so no pressure!
Kai (is that where you got the inspiration Wayne?) Fifield and his father Delaney were doing a spot of sightseeing around the magnificent Nou Camp Stadium when Kai joined in a kickabout with a group of local kids.
Unknown to the Fifields, however, the game was being watched by scouts from the Catalan giants, eager to spot the latest talent to add to their famed La Masia youth academy.
Kai made such an impression on the watching scouts that he was asked to come back for an official trial the next day, which coincided with their scheduled return back to Blighty.
"I explained we were leaving tomorrow but they were persistent," Kai's father, Delaney Fifield explained. "So we cancelled the flights and I took him back!"
A coach described his performance at the first training session as “very, very good”, and if he can continue to impress, he may even be offered a place in the academy in September, an opportunity that father and son would jump at.
"I would pack our bags and move there tomorrow if they asked," Delaney added.
"Every father would say this, but he is a fantastic player. He is small but very quick, has great passing and is unselfish.
"You don't get a chance like this every day and it has come our way by complete chance."
Check out the video above (apologies for the poor sound quality) to hear Delaney tell the whole story and to see Kai showcase some of the skills that so impressed the Barca scouts in the first place.
