Ugly scenes from the north of France...

As you may know, Everton are playing Lille in the Europa League this evening but the game has sadly been overshadowed by events off it.

The first reports of the clashes between football fans with the local police first emerged last night and new footage has just been released showing the extent of the violence.

It's unclear who the aggressors are from this clip but it's clear that an Everton supporter asks the local authorities why they used tear gas in a crowd that contained children.

It's believed that the most recent clash between Toffee's supporters and the authorities emerged after a plain clothes officer went to arrest Everton fans among the large crowd of supporters that had gathered in the city’s Grand Place square around lunchtime.

Take a look.
