A footballer in Argentina was guilty of a quite brutal case of animal cruelty during a match recently, but thankfully the animal in question was OK and the offender got what was coming to him.

Dogs encroaching onto the field of play isn’t exactly a rare occurrence in a number of sports but in the vast majority of cases, they are seen as an amusing distraction for a few moments before ushered away from the action without any harm being done.

Unfortunately that wasn’t the case in a clash between Belle Vista and San Juan in Argentina recently when one of the Belle Vista players approached a dog who had came onto the pitch, grabbed a hold of it by the neck and subsequently tried to throw it from a distance over the fence surrounding the pitch and into the stands.

Understandably, supporters at the game were horrified and one threw what appeared to be a flare in the direction of the offender, Jose Jimenez, who then had to fend off a number of San Juan players who were furious at his quite senseless behaviour.

Once everything had calmed down, Jimenez was given his marching orders, while the poor dog in question, while probably a little hurt and no doubt hugely shocked by what happened, seemed to trot away relatively unscathed afterwards.

We’re not sure whether or not Jimenez will face any further punishment for his action, but no matter how hard the authorities come down on him, you could hardly call it woof justice. *JOE goes to get coat*
