Video: Franck Ribery scored a bit of a stunner for France this evening

Not quite as good as the stonking effort by Kazakhstan’s Dmitriy Shomko against Ireland but not a bad effort all the same.

Not quite as good as the stonking effort by Kazakhstan’s Dmitriy Shomko against Ireland but not a bad effort all the same.

As Tony Yeboah enthusiasts know well, goals that go into the net via the underside off the crossbar are that little bit sweeter than your average everyday screamer and Tony himself would have been proud of the effort that Franck Ribery smacked home for France against Finland this evening.

Cutting in from the left hand side, the Bayern Munich winger showed excellent close control to evade the attention of a few Finnish defenders before letting fly with his right foot for a quite stunning effort, made look even more stunning by the aforementioned detour via the underside of the bar.

Pick that one out.
