Paul Scholes was hardly going to agree to a regular interview after announcing his retirement… so they got Gary Neville to do it instead.
The ginger legend will play his final game at Old Trafford this afternoon after announcing his retirement for a second time this weekend, except this time you get the feeling he means it.
True to form he timed his announcement just before today’s game against Swansea, where the farewell of Alex Ferguson and continuing speculation over the future of Wayne Rooney – who has been left out of the squad entirely – will command most of the attention at Old Trafford, leaving Scholes to slip quietly into the background.
He sat down for a chat with old team-mate Neville a couple of days back and talked about his retirement, the influence of Alex Ferguson, the arrival of David Moyes… and while you’ll never see him on Facebook.
