The presence of Gary Neville means that Monday Night Football is almost an essential watch for football fans and last night they cobbled together his best bits from the season into a neat little package.

Gary Neville was something of a divisive figure in his playing days; Manchester United fans loved him because he was a United man through and through and wore his heart on his sleeve and fans of many rival clubs hated him for that exact reason.

In only a couple of short seasons as a pundit, however, Neville has managed to transform that hatred into well, not quite love, but almost universal respect amongst football fans thanks to his forthright views on the game and the fact that he brings a tactical insight that is not hugely evident amongst the shedload of ex-footballers currently on the punditry circuit.

Neville is at his best on Sky’s ‘Monday Night Football’ and after last night’s meeting between Sunderland and Stoke, viewers were treated to a montage of Neville’s best bits from the season nearly gone by, as well as his Premier League Team of the Season selection which you may have spotted on the site earlier on.

Unfortunately, that will be the last we will see of Neville on Monday Night Football for a few months, but we look forward to more of the same next season, when, who knows, Jamie Carragher might even join in for the laugh.
