Ireland’s win over Oman might not have been particularly exciting but at least it wasn’t the most boring game of football to take place last night. No no, that honour goes to the Hungarian cup match between Paksi SE and Ferencvaros and while we didn’t see all of it, if the two minutes of footage below is anything to go by then it might just have been the most boring match of all time.

It actually finished 1-1 after 90 minutes, but we don’t know how. Older readers might remember the last few minutes of Ireland v Holland at Italia ’90 when both sides were more than happy to take a draw and Packie Bonner seemed to hold onto the ball for minutes at a time, but it was worse than that.
Maybe The Simpsons were right after all…
