Video: Jamie Redknapp played a ridiculous rabona pass during the Hillsborough legends match yesterday

To get the inevitable line out of the way, it was certainly a ‘top, top’ pass by the footballer turned Sky pundit.

To get the inevitable line out of the way, it was certainly a ‘top, top’ pass by the footballer turned Sky pundit.

Redknapp was one of a host of Reds legends togging out at Anfield for the ‘Celebration of the 96’ game yesterday in memory of all the Liverpool fans that lost their lives in the Hillsborough disaster 25 years ago.

Organised by the Hillsborough Family Support Group (HFSG), proceeds from the game went to HFSG and the Liverpool FC Foundation and although there have been more high-paced games on Merseyside this season, there were a few standout moments, principal amongst them a quite amazing ‘rabona’ pass by Jamie Redknapp in the second half.

A tad unnecessary perhaps, and spoiled slightly by the lack of control exhibited by the recipient, but the crowd certainly seemed to enjoy it, even if Jamie’s nonchalant blowing of a bubble from his bubble gum immediately afterwards suggested that he himself didn’t appear all that bothered.
