Video: Paul Scholes scores with an unbelievable lob in over 35s astroturf game

Yep, he’s still got it alright.

Yep, he’s still got it alright.

Judging by their displays so far this season, Manchester United have yet to fill the Paul Scholes-shaped hole in central midfield and David Moyes could do worse than try and persuade him to come out of retirement (again) judging by this goal he scored in a kickabout down his local astrosturf pitch recently.

Togging out for Chadderton Legends in their highly-anticipated meeting with Chadderton Veterans in the over 35s league recently, Scholes robbed an opposition player of the ball close to his own goal before expertly lobbing the ‘keeper from around 40 yards.

Granted, the pace of the game was more akin to the over 75s clash in Father Ted than a Premier League match but in terms of his vision and his ability to strike the ball, it appears as if Scholes is as good as ever, even if there were no doubt five or six ridiculously late tackles that didn’t make the highlights reel.
