Unfortunately, violence at football matches isn’t a new phenomenon, but things really got out of hand in an amateur match in France recently.
The footage in the clip above was actually recorded during a game between Ivry and Val de Fontenay at the beginning of this month but only began to circulate on the internet in recent days and came to our attention thanks to the lads over at 101 Great Goals.
From what we can gather, the match was abandoned midway through the second half and soon the pitch was engulfed by those in attendance, some of whom were bearing pick-axes, baseball bats and even pepper spray as mass and rather frightening scenes of violence broke out.
By the end of the clip the situation had seemed to calm down somewhat and according to report several arrests were made afterwards.
Shocking stuff.
