Robin van Persie insists that David Moyes did thank the Manchester United players before losing his job as manager.
Much was made about the fact that the former Everton boss never mentioned the playing staff in a statement released after he was sacked, but van Persie insists he did thank them away from the public spotlight.
Speaking to Clare Balding for BT Sport, van Persie said that he felt sorry for Moyes and that “he did everything he c0uld, but sometimes things don’t work out the way you hoped, that’s life.”
