Rory McIlroy wasn’t enjoying himself an awful lot in Carton House yesterday, but he certainly was in this shoot-out on the range against the most entertaining robot since Johnny 5.
McIlroy admitted that he felt lost after a two-over-par 74 on the opening day of the Irish Open at Carton House yesterday and the former World Number One has not looked himself on the course all year.
With that in mind, it was good to see him enjoying himself in a promotional video for the European Tour in which he takes on a cheeky and hugely entertaining robot to try and hit various targets in the form of home appliances located at different parts of the range, a challenge inspired by Rory doing something similar on TV when he was just a toddler.
Maybe Rory could convince the authorities to let this guy – who can’t half hit a decent shot by the way – let him accompany him around Carton House for the rest of the tournament; it would guarantee more entertainment all round.
