These two know a good right-back when they see one and there was no disputing his place in the best Premier League XI of the season so far.

These two know a good right-back when they see one and there was no disputing his place in the best Premier League XI of the season so far.

Neville is used to having the responsibility of selecting this team by himself having done so for the last two seasons, but he had to share it this time around and in the end, himself and Carragher agreed on seven of the eleven players.

Encouragingly from an Irish point of view, Coleman was a unanimous choice at right-back and the pair of them also agreed on a very menacing looking front three of Wayne Rooney, Luis Suarez and Sergio Aguero, midfield powerhouse Yaya Toure, Southampton defender Dejan Lovren and Arsenal’s man of the season so far, Aaron Ramsey.

After that, Neville went for a very Everton heavy rearguard by including Tim Howard, Phil Jagielka and Leighton Baines and opted for Southampton’s Adam Lallana in midfield alongside Ramsey and Toure.

Carragher, on the other hand, went for Liverpool ‘keeper Simon Mignolet, Arsenal’s Per Mertesacker, Southampton’s Luke Shaw and Everton’s Ross Barkley and the back and forths between them over their differences in opinion was very entertaining indeed.

So what do you make of the selection, was anyone particularly unfortunate to miss out? Feel free to let us know in the comment box below.
