With Gary Doherty no longer in the international fold, Irish players producing Samba-like skill have diminished faster than common sense levels at Blackburn Rovers, so it was great to see Shane Long make the cut after his back-heeled effort against Austria during the week.
It turns out we could have really done with that finding the net with the visitors finding a late equaliser, but it was a great piece of individual skill from the Tipperary man. And Dubliner Adam Rooney made it an Irish double with a stunning overhead kick also.
