Shane Long will probably score better goals than the one he scored against Southampton today, but when you’ve gone nine games without a goal you’ll take what you can get.
Mind you, it was a tidy enough finish that Long produced to put the Baggies three goals to the good against Southampton at St. Mary’s, tucking the ball under the legs of Artur Boruc after being put in behind the Southampton rearguard by strike partner Romelu Lukaku.
Southampton 0-3 WBA (Gol de Long) PREMIER LEAGUE by DaniDV
It was the Tipp native’s first goal in the league since the end of January and only his second in 19 Premier League games dating back to November, but the strike will hopefully give Long a boost in confidence ahead of a crucial few months for the Irish team, starting with the friendly that’s not really a friendly against England in Wembley on May 29.
