Would these Arsenal players be able to pass themselves off as genuine New Yorkers? Fuhgeddaboudit.

Unlike some major football clubs, Arsenal, to their credit, seem to make a pretty decent effort with their YouTube channel, regularly pulling in players to feature in a variety of videos, often humorous efforts where the players don’t mind having a laugh at their own expense.

With the club stopping off in New York as part of their pre-season preparations, they decided to get Kieran Gibbs, Mathieu Flamini, Carl Jenkinson and Serge Gnabry to try their hand at a New York accent by repeating phrases famous in the city such as ‘Fuhgeddaboudit’ and ‘How You Doin’ for a bit of a laugh.

Judging by their efforts, none of the above will be cast in a Broadway production of Guys and Dolls while they’re in the Big Apple, but Jenkinson in particular deserves plenty of bonus points for enthusiasm. Mathieu Flamini, not so much.
