Video: The man of the match’s speech after the All-Ireland Schools Final was a little bit sweary

Sometimes when players are interviewed directly after a match and the adrenaline is still flowing, words just tend to slip out unnoticed. As happened to the man of the match from St. Fergal’s Rathdowney yesterday.

Sometimes when players are interviewed directly after a match and the adrenaline is still flowing, words just tend to slip out unnoticed. As happened to the man of the match from St. Fergal’s Rathdowney yesterday.

The Laois outfit tasted victory in a thrilling Masita GAA All-Ireland Vocational SAHC final in Thurles yesterday, coming from ten points down to defeat St. Brigid’s of Loughrea by three points and prevent the Galway school from winning their third title on the trot in the process.

Rathdowney man of the match Gavin Dunne was obviously still buzzing when interviewed by TG4 afterwards and he let out a couple of expletives during conversation, something he probably didn’t realise until a little later on in the evening.

In fairness to Gavin, nobody – well, maybe his mother – was going to pull him up on it such was the role he played in victory yesterday and it was just a couple of innocent slips of the tongue after all.

Besides, it wasn’t a patch on possibly the most expletive-laden speech ever delivered from the steps of the Hogan Stand following the Hogan Cup Final last year (skip ahead to 4:40 for the good stuff).
