A win for any county over Kilkenny in the hurling championship is treasured, but for Dublin the wait has been longer than most and they certainly enjoyed last night.

A win for any county over Kilkenny in the hurling championship is treasured, but for Dublin the wait has been longer than most and they certainly enjoyed last night.

Anthony Daly’s men looked to have squandered a glorious chance last week for a first championship win over the Cats in 71 years, but made no mistake the second time around last night in Portlaoise to reach the Leinster Final and send Kilkenny into the unfamiliar territory of the qualifiers.

In what will have been an unusual situation for Brian Cody, his side never led at any stage during the game as the 10, 532 supporters were treated to yet another exciting game in this year’s hurling championship, with the Cats now facing a mouth-watering clash with Tipp at Nowlan Park.

It was the Dublin supporters that were making all the noise towards the end, and after the match were in full voice to acknowledge the efforts of the boys in blue.
