With four minutes of injury time gone at the end of Chelsea’s clash with West Brom today, it looked as if the Blues were about to lose their second league game on the bounce and Jose Mourinho’s incredible record at Stamford Bridge was about to come to an end as West Brom tried to hold out for a 2-1 win after goals from Stephane Sessegnon and our own Shane Long.

Then Ramires burst into the box and threw himself into the floor after the slightest of contact from West Brom defender Steven Reid; in fact, it could be claimed that Ramires ran into Reid and not the other way around. Have a look at the video below and judge for yourself (skip ahead to 1:06 for the penalty).

However it came about it didn’t appear enough to warrant a penalty, but Marriner pointed to the spot and Eden Hazard converted in the coolest manner possible, particularly considering that it was as good as the last kick of the game.

Emotions were running high afterwards and a few players had to be separated in a bit of a minor shemozzle, but that could end up being a big decision come the end of the season and will have Mourinho and Chelsea fans breathing a huge sigh of relief for now.
