Well renowned astronomer Sir Patrick Moore passed away today and in his honour we take a look back at one of his lighter moments.

Moore passed away at age 89 at his home in West Sussex this afternoon, having been a fixture on British television screens for almost 60 years.

Moore will be best remembered for presenting the astronomy programme The Sky at Night, while others will remember his contribution to computer game show GamesMaster, which ran on Channel Four in the 90s.

Although an incredibly intelligent person, Moore liked a laugh as well, as he showed in an appearance on Room 101 with Paul Merton ten years ago when he played along (kind of) to the Prodigy tune ‘Firestarter’ on the xylophone with impersonator Jon Culshaw.

It’s not the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Moore, but it should bring a smile to your face nonetheless.

Rest in peace Patrick, you’ll be missed.
