As if we needed another reason to remember the name Moritz Stoppelkamp, he went down in the Bundesliga record books thanks to this monster strike yesterday.

Stoppelkamp scored the longest goal ever scored in the Bundesliga yesterday during SC Paderborn 07’s victory over Hannover 96, hitting the ball to the net from 83 metres after Hannover goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler had ventured into the opposition box in an effort to salvage a draw late on.

Instead, the Paderborn defence got the ball clear as far as Stoppelkamp, who didn’t waste any time executing a superb half-volley from the edge of his own box that eventually nestled in the corner of the opposition net to make it 2-0 despite the despairing efforts of a Hannover defender.

Nicely played Moritz.
