It’s May which can mean one thing – serious hurling action is nearly upon us and this ad is a timely reminder of what we can expect.

The official ad for the Championship has just been released and it is impressive. From a Wexford fan talking about the “champagne hurling, Brazilian hurling” of the 1996 All-Ireland Final, to the Waterford supporter to reminiscing about Paul Flynn’s wonder goal in the 2004 Munster Final to the Galway fan thinking back to the drawn final last season. A happy fan from the Premier County also shows her pride at stopping the Kilkenny juggernaut a few years ago.
As the ad itself says, nothing beats being there.
No disrespect to the hurlers of Westmeath and Antrim last week, but for most people the serious hurling Championship action gets underway when the heavyweights get their seasons up and running in the coming weeks.
A classy ad and we hope for some more epic matches over the course of the summer.
