There’s a lot more fashion talk than one would expect from a football show, but also the usual quota of funny moments from one of the best football panels in the business.
We’ve waxed lyrical about the Soccer Saturday crew enough at this stage to forego the need to do it again, but a recent and very welcome development is the monthly highlights package of the show’s funnier moments, which, as far as we’re aware at least, used to be a once-a-season sort of thing.
In March, as usual, the craic between the four analysts was great and Paul Merson deserves credit for his line about David Beckham in a ten-pound suit, but as if often the case, the real star of the show here is Jeff Stelling thanks to his ability to come up with genius one-liners at the drop of a hat.
There’s also a disturbing enough image painted of Phil Thompson in the famous Coco Bongo nightclub in Mexico, but if you can manage to set that aside for a brief moment, then sitting through the compilation of jokes, gaffes and harmless p*ss-taking above is four minutes well spent.
