This hockey referee gives the best explanation for a penalty that we’ve heard yet
One of our favourite things about American sports is that the referees often explain their decision on the loudspeaker system in the stadium after they’ve penalised a team or player. It helps to avoid confusion and lets the crowd know what the ref called for, or, in this case, it’s just darn funny.
This referee with a bit of personality in the NHL this weekend gave a fairly accurate description of what the penalty he’d called was for, sending Shawn Horcoff to the box for a few minutes to think about what he’d done.
The reason? “You can’t do that”. True enough.
