Two of Mullingar’s biggest exports, Bressie and Niall Horan, ended up at a lock-in in a London pub during the Olympics recently. Naturally, it wasn’t long before the guitar came out.

Both Bressie and Niall Horan might actually have exceeded the late Joe Dolan in the popularity stakes at this stage – if that is actually possible – but the pair of them were content to play second fiddle to another son of Mullingar, John Joe Nevin, who performed brilliantly to win a silver medal at the Olympics just passed.

While following John Joe’s progress, Bressie and Niall eventually found themselves in a London pub after hours and as tends to happen in these situations, a guitar came out and a sing-song started.

Unlike the vast majority of Irish sing-songs, this one possessed musicians who could actually sing and play more than three chords on the guitar, even if the version of ‘You don’t know you’re beautiful’ was quickly drowned out by the laughter of everybody present.

They seemed to be having good craic anyway and you can check it all out for yourself in the video above. You can thank us later, female JOE readers.

A big tip of the hat to Ed Rice for sending this one into us.
