After confirmation from the club and Alex Ferguson that he had handed in a transfer request, his reception at the trophy parade today was mixed, at best.

There’s been a whole lot happening at Old Trafford in the past few days, what with the retirement of Alex Ferguson, but another story that grabbed the headlines was that of Wayne Rooney handing in a transfer request.
This was confirmed by the club and Ferguson, in his post-match interview yesterday, and as a result, he got what can best be described as a mixed reaction when he was announced on the open-top bus that United have been using to parade their latest Premier League trophy.
There’s a good few fans booing, although some fans are also cheering, but Rooney was the only player not interviewed and as he’s introduced with Rio Ferdinand, the fans only chant Rio’s name.
Dwight Yorke, who’s at the parade, was asked on Sky Sports News about the incident, and said that it was disappointing to hear him being booed, he hoped that Rooney would reconsider and that the fans would get behind him again, but it seems the tide is turning on a man who was once a crowd favourite.
