Video: Wayne Rooney takes on Rory McIlroy in Crossbar Challenge (with golf balls and footballs)

Surely there was a lot of outtakes that ended up on the cutting room floor because no matter what ball they’re using, these lads know where the crossbar is.

Surely there was a lot of outtakes that ended up on the cutting room floor because no matter what ball they’re using, these lads know where the crossbar is.

Rooney and McIlroy got together recently to film a great new ad for Nike’s new Ordem football (check it out here) with the pair of them taking each other on in a sort of hybrid football golf game that we want to try out as soon as possible, but doubt whether we’d be permitted to do so by any golf club in the country.

As well as the ad itself, Nike have released some behind the scenes footage from the filming of the ad, including a crossbar challenge with both of them using the ball that they are most accustomed to in their professional lives.

You’re always a little sceptical that there might be a few camera tricks used in these sorts of situations, but Rooney, it seems, couldn’t miss the crossbar with every single shot he took, while Rory’s last effort with the golf ball was particularly sweet and deserving of the trademark twirl of the club immediately afterwards.

Ah, it’s tough being a professional sportsman alright.
