Sky Sports were today asking football fans to vote for their Premier League goal of the season via the Sky Football Twitter account and here are the three contenders that made the shortlist.
We’ve featured a hell of a lot of Gary Neville on the site already today but as well as starring in a collection of his best bits from the season and picking his team of the season on Monday Night Football last night, he also put forward three contenders for the goal of the season.
The likes of Gareth Bale and Cameron Jerome can probably feel hard done by being left out but few can argue against the quality of the strikes he did select: Luis Suarez’s brilliant touch and finish for Liverpool against Newcastle and a pair of volleys, Matthew Lowton’s for Aston Villa against Stoke and Robin van Persie’s recent effort against Aston Villa at Old Trafford.
Sky Football have been asking their followers to retweet the image of their favourite strike to vote so have another look at all of the goals below and head on over here if you’d like to contribute, while for the record, Neville picked Lowton’s as his favourite, with Suarez’s in second and RVP’s effort in third.
So, did he pick them in the correct order? Were there any goals he didn’t pick that should have made the cut? Feel free to let us know in the comment box below.
