Because of the money they earn and the off-field misdemeanours of a few, footballers often get a bad rap in the eyes of society, but every now and again, they help arrest the general perception of them with good deeds that one can’t help but admire.
Last night was a case in point as after Brazil’s 5-0 victory over South Africa in Johannesburg, a young South African fan found his way onto the pitch and, looking a little lost, he was grabbed by stadium officials who sought to gently escort him back to his waiting guardian.
Spotting what had happened, Neymar went over and brought the boy over to meet his Brazilian teammates, where he was given the bumps and posed with the Barcelona superstar while David Luiz took a snap on a phone.
A classy, classy touch.
