Vine: Alex Ferguson and Bobby Charlton’s reaction to Sunderland defeat summed up Manchester United’s night

Things are looking pretty bleak for the Red Devils at the moment.

David Moyes’ side crashed to their third successive 2-1 defeat since the turn of the year at the Stadium of Light as Sunderland grabbed the upper hand in the quest to reach the final of the Capital One Cup.

Many have questioned the need for Alex Ferguson – not least Joey Barton – to keep showing up at United’s games as there is a feeling that his presence is undermining David Moyes somewhat and the former manager and Bobby Charlton shared a withering look at the final whistle following the latest in a series of terrible results for the Premier League champions.

Plenty of United fans would have shared the sentiments of Ferguson and Charlton in what is a very worrying time for a club so accustomed to success in the last two decades, not that they have been getting much sympathy from fans of rival clubs, who are gleefully revelling in their current predicament.
