Cardiff aren’t exactly in great shape in the Premier League at the moment but they would have been worse off had their keeper David Marshall not pulled off a cracking save to deny Andreas Weimann in the last minute of a 0-0 draw with Aston Villa this evening.

Observers often tend to over-react in the immediate aftermath of incidents like this but it is being described as the save of the season so far, and considering how close Weimann was to the goal and the instant nature of Marshall’s reactions, we’d be inclined to agree.
