Vine: Gareth Bale provided a beautiful assist and nearly broke the crossbar for Wales this evening

Hal Robson-Kanu supplied the finish but how about that for an assist?

Hal Robson-Kanu supplied the finish but how about that for an assist?

The Welsh team might not be packed with the same amount of stars as Real Madrid, but Gareth Bale is capable of turning on the style in any team and he did just that for Wales’ opening goal against Cyprus in the Euro 2016 qualifier this evening.

The fact that he was facing his own goal and was under pressure from a Cypriot defender mattered little to Bale, who nonchalantly flicked into the path of Robson-Kanu, who did the rest.

A little later, Bale nearly broke the crossbar with a cracking free-kick from 30 yards; it may have taken a slight deflection off the wall but there was no way the ‘keeper was stopping it if it was on target…
