Vine: Lewis Holtby took down Howard Webb with a two-footed tackle during Ledley King’s testimonial last night

It might sound bad but it was all in good fun really and there was some top class simulation from both parties immediately afterwards.

It might sound bad but it was all in good fun really and there was some top class simulation from both parties immediately afterwards.

Webb was the man in the middle for a clash between the current Spurs squad and a Guest XI put together by former Spurs captain Ledley King for King’s testimonial last night, with the likes of Edgar Davids, Teddy Sheringham and David Ginola returning to White Hart Lane for King’s big night.

As you’d expect with a testimonial it wasn’t the most competitive of affairs, or at least it wasn’t until Lewis Holtby nailed referee Howard Webb with a two-footed challenge from behind that sent the controversial official sprawling to the turf.

To his credit, Webb knew that Holtby was having a laugh and proceeded to throw himself to the ground in dramatic fashion before picking himself up and pretending to lash out at Holtby, who performed similar dramatics right in front of a large group of fans who seemed to get a good kick out of it.

Come to think of it, we’ve seen something like this in an all-London clash in the recent past, except the two parties involved were deadly serious last time around…
