Real Madrid win the Champions League with three extra-time goals by Bale, Marcelo and Ronaldo

You could just smell it coming.

In the 93rd minute of normal time, Sergio Ramos did this.

Then, in the fifth minute of the second period of injury time, an excellent run by Angel di Maria was finished off by Gareth Bale.

With Atletico visibly shattered, Marcelo waltzed through and Thibaut Courtois couldn’t keep it out.

Insult was added to considerable injury when Diego Godin – scorer of the opener – fouled Cristiano Ronaldo and the Portuguese superstar finally had his goal after a subdued game.

Diego Simeone was sent to the stands in the ensuing melée as Real Madrid secured La Decima.
