Vine: The curious case of Martin ‘Mad Dog’ Allen, a brutal cardigan and a spider

JOE

ITV’s FA Cup highlights show was the setting for a very bizarre piece of on-couch action.

The presence of Roy Keane aside, ITV’s football coverage can be a bit rubbish. Famous for their tendency to take ads, scheduled or otherwise, during big moments of games, it is definitely not in the same league as the BBC or Sky, never mind Billo, Eamon and the lads.

As expected then, last night’s FA Cup highlights show wasn’t exactly a classic, except for one of the oddest on-set cameos we’ve ever seen on a football show.

Former Brentford, Barnet and Gillingham manager Martin ‘Mad Dog’ Allen was on analysis duty and he was wearing the sort of cardigan your granny might buy you for Christmas. We have to assume it was for a bet.

Anyway, the pullover attracted a fair bit of comment on Twitter, all of it negative, but eventually a fan was found. As you will see in the below Vine, a spider took a fancy to the wacky wool and climbed up and over Allen’s shoulder.

We’d love to see the arachnid have a go at clambering across Keane’s suit and see how long it lasts…
