The Super Bowl is arguably the biggest one-off sporting event in the world and with the help of American Holidays, you could be making your way to Super Bowl XLVII in New Jersey next February.

The American football season is well underway and although we don’t want to think about it ending just yet, it will come to a climax with Super Bowl XLVIII on February 2, 2014, the 48th edition of the Super Bowl in American football, and the 44th annual championship game of the modern-era National Football League (NFL).

It will be held at MetLife Stadium at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey, and after what will hopefully be a rip-roaring campaign between now and then, will determine the champion for the 2013 season.

Super Bowl XLVIII will be the first Super Bowl to be played outdoors in a cold weather environment, the first in 38 years to be played outdoors on artificial turf and the first in which two US states (New York and New Jersey) and two teams (New York Jets and New York Giants, both of whom play in the MetLife Stadium) will share hosting duties.

The stadium also holds a special place in the hearts of Irish sports fans as it is located on the same site as the old Giants Stadium where a Paul McGrath-inspired Ireland, with the help of another famous Ray Houghton goal, defeated Italy in the 1994 World Cup.

The Super Bowl is always a memorable occasion, but last year the game itself between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers lived up to hype and fingers crossed that will be the case again this time around. As for the off-field entertainment, it was announced the Bruno Mars will be the star attraction of the half-time show, so if you’re into Bruno, there’s another reason to make the trip Stateside in February.
