Wegner still keen on Luis Suarez…

Arsene still wants Luis and discussions are "ongoing" and "amicable" with Liverpool

In a press conference this afternoon Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirmed that they were indeed still interested in signing Luis Suarez from Liverpool and that discussions between the clubs were “ongoing.”

The Frenchman has been criticised in previous seasons for his lack of signings, and thought he had triggered a clause in Suarez’s Liverpool contract when Arsenal bid £40 million and £1 thus opening up negotiations with the player.

“I don’t want to speak about Suarez, because that is between Liverpool and Arsenal. We will completely respect what Liverpool wants to do. We want to (sign the player) if it is feasible in an amicable way.” He told a room full of curious media.

When asked about the Uruguayan strikers disciplinary record he was very clear,  “We have values that we want our players to respect. No matter where they come from, we will be very touchy on that of course.”

Before adding, “This club has built a reputation, not only during my period here but over 127 years, and the values that are very important for this club have to be respected by every player, no matter where he comes from.”

It seems that this one is going to go on and on, especially with Real Madrid currently distracted with the small matter of a world record €100 million bid for one Gareth Bale.
