It is very safe to say that so far the World Cup has been goaltastic. With 28 goals in the first eight games we are ticking along at a very healthy average of 3.5 per game. That’s the highest rate in a World Cup since 1958. The big question now is will it start to regress back to the more normal levels of these tournaments, somewhere around 2.5 per game?

It may, but we don’t think that drop off will happen just yet, especially when Argentina enter the fray tonight. They will face Bosnia in the first game of the tournament at the Maracana and we reckon it will be pretty special.

The stadium, of course, is one factor, but the hugely exciting Argentina team is even more reason to tune into this one. Half of JOE Towers is on Gonzalo Higuain to be top scorer at 20/1 and we expect/hope/need him to get off the mark tonight to try and catch the likes of Neymar, RVP and Robben.

Aside for the Napoli man, there is also Sergio Aguero, Angel Di Maria and, last but not least, Lionel Messi. That level of firepower is fierce and after other countries made big tatements of intent in their first game, we can see Alejandro Sabella’s side doing the same.

However, Argentina also have a bit of a dodgy defence, and they were the leakiest of any team in qualifying for Brazil. That should present a chance or two, or three, for Bosnia’s main man Edin Dzeko. The Manchester City man is in fine form and his colleague up front, Vedad Ibisevic, is not too shabby either.

For us, all that adds up to a glut of goals before bedtime tonight, so we’re backing over 4.5 goals at 18/5.
