World Cup Bet of the Day: Goals to fly in as Spain meet Holland tonight

It is only Day 2 and we already have a World Cup final rematch. Woof. And we expect it to be a lot better game than the brutality of Johannesburg in 2010.

When those magic balls were pulled out for 2014 World Cup, the pairing of Spain and Holland in the same group was one of those ‘oooh’ moments. Finalists in 2010, they played out a brutal game in Johannesburg, pock-marked by nine Dutch booking, one red card for Jonny Heitinga and  a full-frontal assault by Nigel de Jong on Xabi Alonso. Spain still won the game though, 1-0.

But tonight’s game will be considerably different. The Dutch, under Louis van Gaal, are a much more traditional Oranje outfit and they rattled in the goals for fun in qualifying. Powered by RVP and Arjen Robben, they will probably find a way to score tonight in Salvador.

However, Spain have a squad with 17 of the 23 who went to South Africa and won. They are experienced, have a new option in Diego Costa and the Dutch are defensively brittle.

For us that adds up to a game where both teams score but Spain emerge victorious, and that bet can be yours for 19/5.
