The Status Yellow warning comes into place on Monday.

Met Éireann have issued a rain warning for eight counties as a risk of floods remains.

A Status Yellow warning will be in place across Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Cork and Waterford tomorrow, Monday, February 2, from 1pm until 9am Tuesday.

Dublin, Louth and Wicklow were also issued Status Yellow rain warnings across a later timeframe of 9pm on Monday to 1pm Tuesday.

“Further heavy rain falling on saturated ground combined with high river levels and high tides will lead to localised flooding, river flooding, difficult driving conditions," the forecaster has warned.

They added that even moderate rainfall over the next few days could bring new levels of flooding and hardship to already affected communities, particularly in the south and east.

National Emergency Co-ordination Group (NECG) and the Humanitarian Subgroup have met to continue to coordinate their response to recent flooding while Taoiseach Micheal Martin and Minister for Housing, James Browne, have been briefed on the situation.

Additionally, the general weather forecast for this upcoming weeks looks to be full and dreary with large levels of rain and cloudy spells.

Despite a dull start, today is set to be dry and bright as the day continues with highest temperatures ranging between 7C and 10C although tonight may reach below freezing bringing patches of fog.

Tomorrow, bank holiday Monday will be cloudy day but dry in most areas with rain moving into the southwest in the afternoon.

Tuesday is set to be overcast with rain beginning in the south, moving northwards and eventually nationwide with Wednesday and Thursday bringing similar conditions.
