Very sad news as the Irish man who fell in Thailand last month, Robbie Robinson, died from his injuries in Beaumont Hospital yesterday.

It is with a heavy heart that we report that Robbie Robinson, the Irish man who sustained serious injuries in a fall in Thailand last month, has died.

We first brought you Robbie’s story two weeks ago, as his family needed help to get the 32-year-old flown home from Thailand. Thousands responded to the appeal and we were happy to report last week that Robbie was to come home and continue his hospital stay in Dublin.

But sadly, today’s Irish Independent reports that Robbie lost his fight for life yesterday in Beaumont Hospital.

The paper reports that Robbie was surrounded by his family when he passed away and that he also donated his organs, a gesture that will mean a lot to a lot of people.

On the Facebook page set up to raise funds for Robbie, this message was posted.

It is with a broken heart our dear friend and fighter Robbie passed away today.
Robbie put up a magnificent fight but he was needed elsewhere. Robbie has gone on to save lives, by donating his organs, so even in his passing he was amazing and touched even more hearts.
Thank you to everyone for your huge support over the last few weeks. Robbie will truly be missed and we will always love him xxx

As the family are still facing a large medical bill for Robbie’s care and transportation home, the fund is still open. Click here to find out more if you think you can help.

Our thoughts go out to Robbie’s family and friends at this difficult time.
