Lee Westwood was pulling no punches on Twitter earlier today as he dealt with some criticism fired in his direction after the US PGA at the weekend, but he has now apologised for his actions.
The Englishman had a poor final round yesterday as he desperately seeks to land his first major championship, but that was enough for some keyboard warriors to question his ability and mental strength after a disappointing finish to his weekend.
The comments were ongoing earlier, though unfortunately this type of online criticism seems to be par for the course if you pardon the expression.
Sincere apologies to my sponsors and true followers for my earlier comments . It was out of order and out of character ,Westy .

Fair play to him for the saying it was out of line, though we didn’t think it was all that bad in the greater scheme of things.
