After a shocking, SHOCKING, four game goalless streak, the little fella was back on form tonight.
Four games without a goal is nothing for anyone to worry about. The likes of Danny Graham would give away half their wages to have scored a goal in the last 20, never mind in the last four.
But Lionel Messi is held to a higher standard than poor old Danny, as he has really spoiled us with his goalscoring exploits over the last few years.
So when he went the last four games without scoring it was headline news, especially in Spain. But now those slump headlines can be packed away, probably for a few more years, as the Argentine was back to his best tonight against AC Milan in the Champions league.
He was back on the scoresheet when he coolly slotted home a peno in the first half but was his second, a real classic Messi goal, that was the real highlight.
A laser-like 1-2 with Cesc Fabregas was superbly finished by Messi to kill of the Italian’s challenge. He bypasses eight defenders, and the keeper, in about three seconds.
