The circumstances surrounding the Brazilian’s arrival at the Camp Nou are under scrutiny

A member of Barcelona Football Club has brought proceedings before a court regarding the transfer of Neymar to Barcelona in the summer of 2013.

The member in question is Jordi Cases, and already one local court has ordered the Catalan giants to open their books and provide details of what exactly was involved in the transfer. According to El Periodico, they have found that it was not “transparent, nor does it conform to the societal norms in question or commercial law.”

The total fee was €57 million, of which only €17 went to Santos, according to what was stated in court, with another €40 million going to a company, believed to be Neymar & Neymar, run by the footballer and his father. In the documents that were presented to the court, it was seen that on the 15th of November, 2011, they made an agreement to sign the player in 2014 when his contract with Santos ended, and that deal included a loan of €10 million to the Neymar & Neymar company. The court is arguing that when they signed him in 2013 that was a significant altering of the existing contract.

According to Reuters, Barcelona have five days to provide the contract details for the Brazilian star as well as their accounts dating back to 2011, when that first agreement was made, but club President Sandro Rossell is relaxed, telling reporters that it is a claim without any basis.
