Maybe Liverpool signed the wrong Aspas after all…
Still in the mix for the Champions League places and with Luis Suarez on track to set a goalscoring record in the Premier League, Liverpool have had a more than decent season so far, but it would be fair to say that summer signing Iago Aspas hasn’t had much of an impact.
While Iago has been in the wilderness at Anfield, at least one member of the Aspas family has been making people sit up and take notice in footballing circles, with his cousin Aitor scoring a quite brilliant individual goal at the weekend.
Granted, the standard in the Spanish third division mightn’t quite be on a par with the Premier League, but that doesn’t take away from his brilliant effort for Coruxo against Celta Vigo II when he ran from his own half, cruised past six opposition players as if they weren’t there and then dinked a lovely finish past the ‘keeper for the final goal in Coruxo’s 3-1 win.
