Liverpool are being linked with a move for Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole in the summer.
The veteran defender is nearing the end of his deal with the Blues and is unlikely to sign a new deal after losing his place to Cesar Azpilicueta in recent months.
Cole, 33, would represent an interesting stop-gap solution for Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers given Jose Enrique’s continuing injury problems and the fact that Aly Cissokho has had a patchy introduction to Premier League football.
The Mirror claim that Manchester United could also move for Cole if a deal for Luke Shaw fails to come off in the summer.
David Moyes, meanwhile, could be set to go back to former club Everton for Irish right-back Seamus Coleman.
The 25-year-old has been in top form for the Toffees this season and Roberto Martinez is unlikely to let the player go without a struggle.
