On a wet and windy night in Seville, Lionel Messi produced some finishing of the highest quality

While we may never find out if Lionel Messi can do it on a wet and windy Tuesday night in Stoke, he certainly proved that he was on form in the bad weather in Seville last night.

He helped his side return to the top of the La Liga table with two goals on the night and set up a third, but his strike to put the side in front was a sight to behold.

They had gone behind to a goal from Alberto Moreno, a hugely promising Spanish talent, but were pegged back by a goal from Alexis Sanchez, which the Argentine set up from a free kick. Messi then scored this beautiful number from a quick counter attack where Barcelona played it out from the back. As Pedro cut the ball back to him on the edge of the box, his first touch brought the ball up in the air, but he caught it on the half-volley and slammed it in to the back of the net.

He added a second after half time with a neat finish into the bottom corner, and Sevilla were left to rue the missed opportunities int he first half where they could have added a few more goals.
