How could the geekiest show on TV not mark the nerdiest holiday in the calendar?

How could the geekiest show on TV not mark the nerdiest holiday in the calendar?

The Venn diagram that represents fans of The Big Bang Theory and fans of Star Wars probably has a very large intersecting area, so the news that the hit TV show is set to do a tribute will be well received we’re sure.

The episode, entitled ‘The Proton Transmogrification’, will feature Sheldon being guided by Bob Newhart, his childhood hero, who acts as his own personal Jedi Master. You may remember Bob Newhart from his appearance in a particularly fantastic episode of The Simpsons. Bob Newhart everybody!

According to The Hollywood Reporter the folks at CBS comedy are teaming up with the special effects heads from Lucasfilm to re-create Dagobah (home to Yoda in the original Star Wars trilogy) and they will have a whole host of props for the episode, although we only know that they’re going to have a lightsabre so far.

No word yet on when the episode might air over here, but we can’t imagine it would be too much later.
