The replay will reportedly take place next Saturday evening.
Tyrone and Down played out a 2-11 to 3-08 draw in Omagh, with a number of controversial incidents pockmarking a see-saw game.
Peter Harte’s penalty in the first half put Tyrone 1-4 to 0-2 points ahead, but the incident was notable for the referee’s failure to issue Conor Maginn with a clear black card.
A dour first half ended with the home side 1-05 to 0-3 ahead, but much better was to follow in the second period.
Down had there own penalty when Tyrone goalkeeper Niall Morgan was black carded for a foul that seemed less serious than the earlier incident.
Aidan Carr rammed home the spot-kick to leave just two points in the difference.
Darren McCurry and Donal O’Hare traded goals before Maginn planted a third Down goal into the back of the net – adding insult to insult to injury for Tyrone – but Sean Cavanagh rescued the draw with two late points.
