Fernando Torres’ latest tweet certainly indicates he’s delighted to be back at Atletico Madrid

Back to where it all began...

Could this move re-ignite the career of a once great striker?

It has just been announced that Fernando Torres, who has recently signed a permanent deal with AC Milan on a free transfer from Chelsea will spend the first 18 months on loan at his old club Atletico Madrid.

Liverpool v Chelsea

It’s been well documented that Torres is only the shadow of his former self and hasn’t been the same player since joining Chelsea from Liverpool in a £50m move back in 2011. This move came following a hugely impressive stint at Liverpool (pic above) where he established himself as one of the greatest strikers in the world.

He is still idolised at Atletico Madrid by the fans and anyone with a semblance of a heart will hope that this move does bring the best out of Torres.

He seems well chuffed with the move too.

This could prove to be a master stroke by Diego Simeone or another nail in the coffin on the career of the man known as El Niño. We will keep a keen eye on this one.
